Who is Heresy?

Well, first, who we're not.

We're not the British punk rock band from the 80s. Or any of a number of other bands that have apparently used the name over the years. This Heresy is an American progressive rock band, who started playing New York clubs in the 70s, released two albums in the 80s, and is now back together, having just released our third album!

In addition to our original material, we have also done many shows with covers of the likes of Jethro Tull (including appearances at conventions), ELP, The Who, Genesis, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Yes, Cream, Bowie, Beatles and the Moody Blues. If you listen hard enough, you can probably hear influences of all those groups in our own material, though (hopefully!) we don't sound quite like any of them.

We finally finished it! It’s a 40 minute video that goes with the 15 (out of the 23) songs on our new CD that comprise the actual T. S. Eliot poem, “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock,” and we hope you’ll find the time to watch it and maybe give it a “thumbs up” click and/or leave a comment. Click on the link below to watch!

Heresy: The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, a musical adaptation

12/5/16: Heresy's new album, Prufrock, is now available
Heresy's third album (our first since 1989!), is now available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and elsewhere. The album includes a 16-song suite setting to music the classic T.S. Eliot poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock plus 7 bonus tracks, including for the first time on CD, the songs from our 1985 vinyl release that featured Steve Vai on guitar.

Friends helping out Heresy on this one include:

Joaquin Lievano on electric guitar (probably best known for his work with Jean Luc Ponty).
Joe Meo on sax (a Johnny Winter alum),
Jason Brower (Shadow Circus) on additional drums
Andrea Ekizian on additional vocals
Alan Lin on violin
Max Darsche on trumpet
and our other long-time guitarists Ed Clark and Dave Kaelin
